What to Expect

On our private group tours you will enjoy the intimacy of a private tour, experiencing the food and culture of Madison with your own personal tour guide. Our professional guides share an entertaining variety of history and architectural facts in addition to the food tastings making it a perfect experience for all types.

Reserving a Date:

To reserve a date, Capital City Food Tours requires a $100 nonrefundable deposit. This ensures that the tour will be exclusively for the private group. Once tickets are purchased, the $100 will apply to the ticket expense.

A link for this payment will be sent via email and must be received before Capital City Food Tours will reserve the selected date. Only one date may be reserved per group.

Purchasing Tickets:

Capital City Food Tours will send the group contact a Private Group Tour form that must be completed and returned at least 1 week prior to the tour date.

Once the form is received, Capital City Food Tours will send the group contact a copy of the invoice to approve before any form of payment is processed. Upon approval, the contact will then receive an email with the group tickets.

Dates, Times, and Capacities:

Capital City Food Tours is able to offer private experiences for both our Around the Square Tour and 5th Quarter Tour. We also offer custom tours where we will work with you to create a tour specialized for your group. Prices, times, and capacity varies depending on the restaurants used.

Private Group Tour Options

In addition to our public Around the Square Tour and 5th Quarter Tour, private groups also have the ability to customize their experience. Prices and availability will vary, please contact Capital City Food Tours for more information.

Around the Square Tour

Stroll around the Capitol Square savoring classic Wisconsin dishes and learning about the history and architecture of downtown Madison.

5th Quarter Tour

Enjoy one of the most historic neighborhoods in Madison through food and history on a tour that is sure to leave you saying "On Wisconsin!"

All of our tours are able to accommodate vegetarians.

Our Around the Square tour is able to accommodate other dietary restrictions and allergies on an “as needed” basis. You will be asked to select dietary restrictions or allergies during the checkout process when purchasing a ticket.

*Please note that we take food allergies very seriously, and the tastings may not be the same if you select that you have an allergy.

Yes, tickets need to be purchased by 10:00PM the day before the tour. Tickets are only available for purchase with a Visa, AMEX, or MasterCard through our website or by calling (866) 736-6343. Cash is not accepted.

The tour will run whether there is rain or snow. Please check the weather the day of your tour and come dressed and prepared for anything. We will provide umbrellas in the event that it begins raining and you do not have an umbrella.

Of course! On the food tour we not only eat food at local restaurants, but also get to learn about the owners of each establishment and their connection to Madison. It’s also a great opportunity to bring visiting family and friends to learn about how wonderful your city is!

There will be multiple tastings on the tour, which most participants feel is enough for a meal. We do encourage that you have a light meal a few hours before taking the tour because the tour is not intended to replace multiple meals.
